HCAI Update: Attendant Care Services Invoice Coming to HCAI Spring 2025 / October 3, 2024

HCAI is pleased to announce that the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA) has approved the introduction of the Attendant Care Services Invoice (ACSI) into the HCAI system as a pilot, to begin in the spring of 2025.

What is the ACSI?

The ACSI will serve as a standardized invoice used to bill for services listed on the Assessment of Attendant Care Needs (also known as Form 1). The Form 1 is a mandatory form in HCAI, and the introduction of the ACSI will benefit business processes by offering a seamless invoicing experience. Attendant care services are typically delivered by in-home personal support companies.

How will the Pilot Work?

The new form will become available as part of the HCAI spring System Release 3.33. Following the release, health care facilities logging in to HCAI will see the form available for completion and may submit on behalf of their patients to any Ontario auto insurer. During the pilot it is not mandatory to make ACSI submissions through HCAI, however we encourage facilities to use the new form and benefit from the electronic process.

ACSI submissions will follow the existing billing procedures and Service Provider Licensing rules as outlined in the HCAI Guideline. Facilities submitting the ACSI will be able to do so regardless of whether they were the facility that submitted the Form 1.

Where Can I Learn More?

More detailed information will be shared in the coming months, and as the launch date approaches detailed training material will be available on HCAI’s information resource website, HCAIinfo.ca, to guide you step-by-step through submitting an ACSI.

Important Information

If your health care facility anticipates using the ACSI and you currently submit forms in HCAI using a Practice Management System (PMS), we encourage you to reach out to your PMS Vendor to express your interest in having this new form available for submission via their software. You will also have the ability to submit the ACSI through the HCAI web application once the pilot begins.
