HCAI Update Bulletin

HCAI Data Deletion

Apr 3, 2025
HCAI Data Deletion

As part of the ongoing maturity of the HCAI system, data retention requirements have been defined. Two years’ lead time has been provided to insurers through our communication channels and data will become eligible for deletion later this year.

Here’s what you need to know about the upcoming deletion of data in HCAI:

1. What data will be deleted?

Claim-claimant records and their associated documents will become eligible for deletion from HCAI seven years after claim-claimants have been deactivated by the insurer. This only includes claims in which all claimants have been deactivated.

2. What is the timeline for data deletion?

Claim and form deletion is planned to begin in Sept. 2025. The deletion of deactivated claims, their associated claimants, and related forms will start with the oldest data in HCAI, such as those submitted or created before 2010.

3. What happens to deleted data?

Once a claim is deleted, it is permanently removed from the HCAI system and cannot be recovered.
